The Sounds of South Manchester

Reading Time: < 1 minute

How it started

At the beginning of the month we sat and discussed what steps and actions we could take to help benefit our members and our community, we wanted to give back and attempt to draw people together during such uncertain times. After a lot of consideration, we decided music had to be involved.

What brings people together more than music? We came up with the Sounds of South Manchester, a song contest for the whole community.

We asked our community for their song suggestions and the stories that make that song so special to them. With their song request they were entered into a prize draw for the chance to win £150. We received 300 entries. We were blown away by the number of entries and the powerful stories.

What is the Sounds of South Manchester

The Sounds of South Manchester is a giant playlist compiled of 238 of the songs which come from the heart of all our members, the real sounds of our community. The playlist is yours and everyone’s around you and that’s what makes it beautiful.

The Winner!

Paul Smythe, with his song suggestion By the way By Red Hot Chili Peppers.

“The song of my childhood when watching Dragonball z it was on Toonami, my son now loves it too”
